References for the Ecumenical Institute

Master of Arts in Christian Ministry

The MACM requires two references.

  • one by a professional able to assess the applicant’s aptitude for ministry in the desired area of concentration.
  • one by a professor, academic advisor, or academic administrator. An applicant may forego this academic reference by registering for TH601 or another approved introductory course, with the understanding that successful completion of the course (B or higher) will take the place of the academic reference.

 Master of Arts in Theology

The MAT requires two references.

  • at least one must be from a professor, academic advisor, or academic administrator. An applicant may forego this academic reference by registering for TH601 or another approved introductory course, with the understanding that successful completion of the course (B or higher) will take the place of the academic reference.
  • one may be anyone who knows the applicant’s character and abilities well.

Certificate

Basic certificates require one reference from a pastor or professor.

Certificate of Advanced Study

The CAS requires one academic reference.

Doctor of Ministry Program

The Doctor of Ministry Program requires two letters of recommendation:

  • One by a non-relative ministry peer or supervisor who knows your ministry situation well
  • One by any non-relative who knows the applicant’s character and abilities well

Recommendation Forms

Application to a degree program or the CAS requires at least one reference. Part of the online application process involves providing name(s) and contact information for your references.
