Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Richard Hilgartner, a St. Mary’s alumnus, was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Baltimore in 1995. He was named Chaplain to His Holiness with the title Monsignor in October of 2011. Msgr. Hilgartner has been the pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Cockeysville, Maryland since 2015. Previously he had been Associate Director and then Executive Director of the Secretariat of Divine Worship, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (2007–2014). He has also served at three other parishes in the Archdiocese.

Msgr. Hilgartner has an S.T.L. from Pontificio Ateneo Sant’Anselmo in Rome, with a specialization in sacramental theology, and he is completing his Doctorate in Sacred Theology there, specializing in sacramental and liturgical theology.
