Preaching Advent 2023

Advent Wreath (candles lit to third week of Advent)The First Sunday of Advent is December 3, 2023, marking the beginning of the 2024 Liturgical Year and Lectionary Year B.

Preaching Advent is a workshop for priests and deacons to share resources and ideas for preparing homilies for the upcoming Advent season.

Faculty members from St. Mary’s Seminary and other institutions will give presentations of the liturgical and scriptural themes of the Advent season and facilitate a group discussion where participants can share their experience and insights about Advent preaching.

The presentations will be recorded and offered online soon after the live workshop date.

A New Jersey native, Father Ciriaco has served as a theology teacher and campus minister in several high schools. He has also been a pastor in the Archdiocese of Newark, and is a trained spiritual director.
